Nursing Residency Program | Harborview Medical Center

Harborview’s Nursing Residency Program supports and nurtures new residency graduates to be nurses at Harborview on units throughout the hospital.

During this program, new graduates participate in monthly seminars to strengthen clinical skills and gain nursing professional development such as ethical decision making, evidence-based practices and stress management.

Focused on our mission, residents explore the resources and patient-centered care we provide to the vulnerable populations we serve.

In addition, an advisory board composed of nursing leadership, human resources, unit managers, UW School of Nursing leaders, educators and facilitators meets to refine our curriculum and ensure resources to give our residents the best possible experience joining Harborview.

Harborview is pleased to offer the Vizient/American Association of Colleges of Nursing Nurse Residency Program (NRP)

This is a national program focused on new graduate nurses as they enter practice. The evidence-based curriculum provides emphasis on leadership, patient safety outcomes and professional development.

You will be well supported as you transition from entry-level to competent professional nurse. Orientation includes an extensive clinical preceptorship as well as classroom training. Monthly seminars are conducted during the first year of employment. The NRP prepares new graduates to successfully begin careers as confident nursing professionals.
