David Townes, M.D., M.P.H., D.T.M.H., is a board certified physician in Emergency Services at UW Medical Center, a UW associate professor of Emergency Medicine and an adjunct associate professor of Global Health.
Dr. Townes’ greatest satisfaction is derived from helping patients in their greatest time of need, through a collaborative, team approach including the patients themselves.
Dr. Townes earned his M.D. from the University of Massachusetts. He is an advisor to the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance at the United States Agency for International Development and medical epidemiologist in the International Emergency Response and Recovery Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dr. Townes has worked all over the world from Antarctica to Zambia in expedition medicine and on humanitarian missions. He is an editor of Expedition and Wilderness Medicine published by Cambridge University Press.
